Optimum start is available on all of our programmable thermostats - so for those with one of these models read on and check you have this energy saving feature enabled.

The Basics: Standard thermostats simply switch on at the time you program - any warm up time must be allowed for in the settings programmed. Lets say you wake up normally at 7am, with a standard thermostat you may set 5.30am so your house is warm by 7am.

This method will work, but it assumes that your house needs the same amount of warm up time throughout the year - which isn't the case.

Optimum Start: Heatmiser Thermostats with Optimum Start are intelligent . They know how much warm up time your house needs. This warm up time maybe 2 hours in the middle of winter, but only 20 minutes in late Spring. The Heatmiser thermostat will constantly learn how much time your home needs to heat up. As an example, installing double glazing will drastically effect the heat up time in your home - with this feature enabled, the Heatmiser Thermostat will notice the change and will automatically recalculate the required heat up time.

Throughout the year the savings can be substantial.

How to check you have Optimum Start Enabled...

Those with a Version 2 Thermostat 

• Press the Power Button to turn off the thermostat

• Hold down the clock key until the display turns on - then let go

• Repeatedly press the clock key until you see the small number 08 in the top right corner

• If the large number shows 00, your optimum start is disabled- use the Up Key to set this to 03

• Press A to accept and store

Those with a Version 3 Thermostat 

• Hold the Power Button until the thermostat turns off

• Hold down the clock key until the display turns on - then let go

• Repeatedly press the clock key until you see the small number 10 in the top right corner

• If the large number shows 00, your optimum start is disabled- use the Up Key to set this to 03

• Press A to accept and store

Version 3

In 2009 we released version 3. The easiest way to check if you have version 2 or 3 is to press the Power Key once.

If the display turns off - its version 2

If you see the frost symbol - its version 3
